Marcellus Shale Formation

Marcellus Shale Formation

The Marcellus Shale Formation is located in the eastern region of the US and is named after the town of Marcellus New York, where the shale reaches the surface.

The Marcellus shale is the deepest member of the Hamilton Group Formation and provides an extensive natural gas reserve.

New technological advances in mining have recently made it possible to extract the natural gas from the shale.

It's been estimated that over 4 trillion cubic feet of natural gas is trapped in the formation. Of that, about thirty percent may be recoverable. Studies have indicated that this reserve alone could supply the natural gas needs of the US for over 20 years.

Moro USA, Inc. of Union, Missouri has been a major supplier of industrial vacuum equipment to mining companies working to develop this resource.

Read about how Moro pumps are used all over the world in wastewater, environmental, agriculture, and oil & gas drilling and mining industries.
